During our Virtual Knit Night this week were were chatting about a couple of patterns and decided to do a Knit-A-Long. We're planning to start the beginning of August. Here are all the details if you'd like to join us.
This shawl is Corinthian by Meg Gadsbey. It requires 832 yards of dk weight yarn. I would suggest sticking with a solid colour to best show off the stitch pattern. This is a great beginner pattern with just knits, purls and increases.
The Simple Hug Cardi is by Cozy Up Knits (four Canadian sisters). They are suggesting dk weight and mohair paired together. If you don't want to stripe it yourself, I've got a couple of suggestions for long self-striping yarn. (If you don't want to do two strands, you could opt for a worsted weight yarn instead.) This is another great beginner project with no shaping or long sleeves.
Both patterns are available on Ravelry. We can help you purchase them in store if you would rather not shop online.
TIME TO PICK YOUR YARNS!!
We've got suggestions for every budget and desired fibres. As we're doing a couple more Berroco orders over the next few weeks, we're recommending some of their yarns such as Ultra Wool DK, Vintage DK, Arno, Cambria, Farro, Mantra and Mantra Stonewash, and Providence. For self-striping yarn, Millefiori Light or Pixel would be fantastic. You can check out all the colour options at berroco.com or stop in at the store to see the shade cards.
If you are purchasing yarns from the store to make either of these, your finished project will definitely count in our FO (finished objects) contest that we are running throughout the Summer. Make sure you join our Sweet Yarnies Facebook group to chat along and make your entries.
