Spring/Summer Yarn Tasting Review

We had such a great time at the Spring/Summer Yarn Tasting on Tuesday evening. This new collection offers a lot of yarns with interesting fibres. It's not just your grandma's old dishcloth cotton. lol As always, Berroco has created some goregous yarns and designed patterns in knit and crochet to match. Read through below for a little information on all the new yarns. If you're interested in seeing any of them in person, we've got samples knit up in store.

Mantra Stonewash

Their 100% silk yarn now comes in beautiful stonewash shades as well as solid colours. It's soft and affordable silk yarn that has gorgeous drape. Attendees loved this one and are planning a knit-a-long in it.

Liana

Made of linen and nylon, this yarn is crunchy and slippery but after soaking and blocking it, Liana turns into beautiful projects. It's a nice lightweight yarn, perfect for Summer garments.

Gingham

This cotton and nylon yarn is definitely interesting. It's a tape yarn with a frayed edge. Knit on 8mm needles, it makes for a nice light item you've just got to feel.

Farro

Another cotton and nylon blend, this one has a unique construction that makes the yarn springy and squishy. It has some fablulous colours and would look great in lots of patterns.

Cambria

This one was definitely one of my favourites as it contains alpaca which I can never resist. The gorgeous feel of the yarn matches the beautiful muted colours.

Ultra Wool Chunky

Last but not least is this fabulous superwash wool. We've had in the DK and Fine weights and look forward to working with it more. It has the stickiness of a rustic wool with the benefit of being machine washable.
